Restorative Dentistry
There are many different ways that teeth can be damaged. Some of the factors that cause tooth damage and decay are environmental, such as eating hard foods, consuming sugary beverages, or grinding the teeth at night. Other times, the cause of tooth decay can be more closely related to genetic susceptibility, since genes are the primary factor that determines enamel structure. The softer the enamel, the more susceptible teeth are to decay. In either case, if a tooth becomes damaged or a cavity starts to form, then restorative dental treatment may be required.
Health-Oriented Restorative Dentistry
At Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry, we have been Rolla’s trusted dental practice specializing in restorative dentistry for years. We believe in taking a conservative approach when it comes to restorative dental care, which is why we focus our methods around a health-centered model. Of course, we want your teeth to be in good condition, and function normally as they should and for you to be free of pain, but we also believe there is significant value to preserving natural teeth. When it comes to providing restorative treatment, we use minimally invasive techniques to preserve as much of the natural tooth as possible while also restoring your dental health and wellness.
Our Restorative Dental Treatments
When you visit us for restorative dental treatments, we will go above and beyond to make sure that you feel welcomed and comfortable during your appointment. We understand that, for many, visiting the dentist invokes some feelings of anxiety, and we will do our best to put your worries at ease.
Whether you’re visiting us for the treatment of a cavity, dental trauma, or dentures, we will do our best to prep you for your visit by empowering you with information. We offer a whole range of restorative dental treatments including:
- Full & Partial Dentures – Missing teeth can interfere with one’s ability to properly speak, chew, and swallow. If you have teeth that are missing, whether as a result of damage or decay, our dentists may recommend full or partial dentures. Dentures are prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth. They restore the chewing system to its normal functional ability and also improve the look of your smile.
- Dental Implants – Dental implants are another method of replacing one or more teeth that are missing. They are made of an artificial root, usually made of titanium, which is then attached to an artificial tooth. There are a few benefits of dental implants, the first being that they are very natural looking. They also have a remarkably long-life expectancy and have a very high success rate of 90-95%.
- Crowns & Bridges – If you have a tooth that is cracked or chipped, a dental crown may be used to restore it to its original shape. A dental crown is a natural-looking, thin shell of porcelain or other “tooth-like” material that is fit over a damaged tooth to strengthen it and restore its shape. Sometimes, crowns can also be used to secure prosthetic teeth in place to replace one or more natural teeth that are missing. This is referred to as a dental bridge and is very common procedure.
