We’re excited to serve patients at our brand-new state-of-the-art dental facility located at 425 Pine Tree Rd, Rolla, MO 65401 effective Monday, June 14, 2021!

Our new dental facility allows us to continue to provide enhanced care and support to dental patients in Rolla and the surrounding communities.

Our family-owned practice has been treating patients in Rolla since 1984 and at our 912 Cedar St. dental facility since 2001. The new dental facility at 425 Pine Tree Rd. is just 2 miles from our current location.

Patient care will be seamless as our new dental facility will have an operational patient treatment room beginning Monday, June 14, 2021, while the remainder of the equipment moves later in the week.

Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry: Company History & Background

Since day one, being Health-Centered and focused on one-to-one patient care has been an integral part of our practice. Long before discussions of a new dental facility were being had during the Moorkamp family and Arthur family gatherings, Dr. Bill Moorkamp learned the value of providing quality, compassionate patient care while working in his father’s dental practice.

At the young age of twelve years old, Dr. Bill Moorkamp was assisting and learning how to develop dental X-rays under his father’s guidance. During this time, he gained an appreciation for dentistry and its ability to help others. He learned first-hand how rewarding the experience could be.

After graduating from the University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in Psychology and a DDS degree from University of Missouri Kansas City, Dr. Bill Moorkamp opened his own private practice in Rolla.

Dr. Stephen Moorkamp & Dr. Charlie Arthur Join the Practice After Post Graduate Residencies

Fast-forward several years later, Dr. Bill Moorkamp’s solo dental practice had its sights set on growing the practice to “pass the torch” shortly after his son Dr. Stephen Moorkamp and son-in-law Dr. Charlie Arthur moved back home to Rolla.

Both Dr. Stephen Moorkamp and Dr. Charlie Arthur grew up in the Rolla area, in fact, Dr. Bill was Dr. Charlie’s Dentist. After graduating from college, they attended dental school in Kansas City. Dr. Charlie completed a residency and served in the Air Force while Dr. Stephen completed a dental residency in Kansas City.

They were reunited when they returned to their hometown in Rolla in 2018.

Dr. Charlie is married to Dr. Stephen’s sister, Emily.

Dr. Stephen and Dr. Charlie decided to go into practice with Dr. Bill, and the Dentist “Trio” began serving patients, sharing our 912 Cedar St. dental facility.

“We both wanted to be able to return to the town we grew up in to provide Health-Centered dental care,” Dr. Stephen said. “And, we wanted to be in practice together. The opportunity arrived to come back to Rolla, and we joined Dr. Bill in serving patients at the 912 Cedar Street dental facility. Dr. Charlie and I have been able to grow the practice since we took over by accepting new patients and developing Health-Centered relationships with them for their dental care.”

Family-Owned Dental Practice Gratefully Serves Patients in Rolla & Surrounding Communities

Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry will continue to operate its “Health-Centered” dentistry model. The goal of this type of dentistry is to help patients achieve optimal health with optimal repair of the oral health system, maximum protection, and good oral hygiene habits.

“The best Dentistry is no Dentistry,” i.e. prevent fillings and repairs! Patients appreciate that philosophy,” according to Dr. Bill Moorkamp.

Dr. Stephen Moorkamp and Dr. Charlie Arthur have gone to great lengths to educate themselves through post-doctoral courses, continuing education programs, and professional study groups.

They are both currently putting themselves through the Advanced Restorative Dental Curriculum at the Pankey Institute and are one course away from completing the Pankey Institute’s Essential Curriculum. They have also been aligned with a Spear Study Club for Advanced Restorative Dentistry with several specialists in the area.

Advanced Restorative Dentistry addresses complex dental problems and works to restore damaged teeth to their former glory, using sophisticated techniques and technology. Damaged teeth resulting from excessive wear and tear, natural defects, external injuries or traumas and oral diseases can all be successfully treated by these highly trained Dentists.

In addition, the Drs training in Advanced Restorative Dentistry will help those in Rolla and the surrounding communities who may have neglected their teeth and oral health for many years and are ready to “turn back the hands of time” at a dental facility staffed with a compassionate team ready to welcome them and guide them on their journey to better health.

Dr. Bill is excited that his son Dr. Stephen and son-in-law Dr. Charlie have followed and excelled in the path of higher dental education and Advanced Restorative Dentistry and looks forward to continuing to mentor the Drs at the new dental facility at 425 Pine Tree Rd. We have even included designated space in the basement to host future study groups.

We also make it a point to pass on the knowledge we’ve gained to our patients so they can take the best possible care of their oral health. Dr. Charlie Arthur states, “Dr. Bill has always been a great educator, that’s the one thing that we’re able to pass on to our patients through having more one-on-one time with them to promote better health. It’s more than just fixing teeth and making them look pretty. We’ve learned to be more than just a Dentist, this has helped the practice grow by fostering, mentoring, and providing a comprehensive learning environment for our team and our patients.”

During appointments and examinations, we educate and coach our patients on oral health best practices. We want to see our community thrive and we are doing what we can to focus on the health and well-being of individuals and families who live in the area.

We believe that the new dental facility at 425 Pine Tree Rd. will help us accomplish this for more patients as our practice continues to grow into its new facilities space. In a recent interview with Phelps County Focus, Dr. Stephen Moorkamp stated, “We’re being strategic with the development of the space for the new dental facility, and we need a little bit more space to be able to provide more enhanced care and continue with the necessary time for patient education that we each desire to give to more patients in the Rolla community and surrounding area. The new building’s space is going to help us do that.”

New Dental Facility with the Same One-to-One Patient-Centered-Care & Philosophy

In 2019, Dr. Stephen Moorkamp and Dr. Charlie Arthur made the decision to plant their roots and invest their future into the Rolla community by purchasing a plot of land and building a brand-new state-of the-art dental facility in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by trees and forest.

Their vision for the improved oral health of the Rolla Community and surrounding areas began to come to life. Their passion to serve is always a priority and both Drs joined service clubs; Dr. Charlie Arthur joined the Rolla Lions Club and Dr. Stephen Moorkamp joined the Rotary Club of Rolla. Dr. Charlie Arthur was recently asked to deliver the RHS (Rolla High School) National Honor Society year-end keynote speech.

Dr. Charlie and Dr. Stephen were both members of the National Honor Society as Rolla High School students.

It’s been nearly three years since Dr. Stephen and Dr. Charlie joined the dental practice. During this time, they have been working out of the 912 Cedar St. dental facility, being creative with rotating schedules to accommodate all their patient’s needs. We have experienced a few space limitations but at no time has it ever affected patient care. Our ultimate goal is to be able to more easily and effectively accommodate three Dentists under one roof, which the new dental facility at 425 Pine Tree Rd. will provide.

Dr. Stephen and Dr. Charlie will be able to devote additional time at the new 425 Pine Tree Rd. dental facility as the practice grows. Dr. Bill will continue to see his patients as usual. But because the Dentists will be able to operate more efficiently in the new facility, patients can expect enhanced access to their Dentist. The team of 3 Dentists can be accessible to all potential patients if and when an urgent need arises. A Dentist is always on call, which allows existing patients to be seen for an emergency in 24 hours.

Patient Health & Safety Is & Always Has Been a Top Priority

Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry has always been dedicated to the health and safety of their patients, team and community. It is our number one priority and core value of the practice. Our current dental facility at 912 Cedar St. has always featured the highest quality sterilization practices and procedures. Since the new dental facility was constructed during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the latest safety and sterilization practices and procedures have been enhanced and therefore built into the structural design of the space to emphasize our continued commitment to patient health and safety.

Plasma air purifiers are in the new dental facility, which were installed as part of the building’s HVAC system in order to further control air quality. Such equipment is commonly used in hospitals because of its ability to eliminate bacteria, viruses, dust, and pollen.

In the Patient Treatment Rooms, air quality has been given an even higher level of attention. These rooms have been enhanced with a separate HVAC system that is not connected to the rest of the dental facility. Special equipment has been installed that allows these rooms to operate in a manner similar to “negative pressure rooms” in hospitals, helping to eliminate aerosols and contain airborne particles.

In addition to controlling air quality, our new dental facility has also taken additional steps to control water quality. A VistaPure™ Water Purification System has been installed to provide high quality water for autoclaves, dental bottles, and ultrasonic cleaners.

Health, safety, sterilization, and cleanliness has always been prioritized at Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry. The new equipment will enable us to take our diligent efforts to the next level as technological advances improved this area of focus for the safety for all of us.

While patients are excited and have expressed their appreciation for the environmental-friendly features and additional conveniences, there’s one thing they’re looking forward to above all else. For those who are new or unfamiliar to Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry, this may come as a surprise. But what patients are excited about the most is that the beloved bird feeders will continue to be an attraction at the new 425 Pine Tree Rd. dental facility!

In fact, the new location is perfect for bird-watching. Now, instead of looking out at 10th street, patients will be able to enjoy their favorite activity in a more beautiful, lush environment with views of the trees and forest all around. If you’re lucky, you may even spot some other entertaining critters like squirrels, deer, butterflies and bees, or others making their way through the natural habitat for a sip of refreshing water from the creek that runs through a section of the property.

New Dental Facility, Same One-to-One Health-Centered Patient Philosophy

Just because we’re getting a new dental facility doesn’t mean we plan to treat our patients any differently. Rather, we simply want the ability to focus our attention on helping more patients in Rolla and the surrounding communities with our Health-Centered Patient Philosophy, prioritizing patient care and education.

Our entire team is serving at the new 425 Pine Tree Rd. location. Our patients can expect the same friendly faces with the same philosophy, all with the added benefit of a new modern facility. As the practice grows, patients can expect to meet additional new members of the Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry team.

The Legacy of Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry

Today, Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry is blessed to have two generations of Dentists from the same family. The amazing dedication and work carried out by Dr. Bill’s father inspired him to open his own dental practice in Rolla. Then, Dr. Bill’s son, and son-in-law joined, keeping it as a family-owned business.

Is there hope for a fourth generation of dentists in the family? In April of 2021, Dr. Stephen and his wife Megan gave birth to twins, Marlie and Miles.

Will they become the next generation of dentists in the Moorkamp & Arthur family to serve the patients of Rolla? Or perhaps Dr. Charlie and his wife Emily’s children, Lucy and Graham may become Dentists and carry on the legacy?

Either way, their hearts are full and the Moorkamp & Arthur Family Dentistry team are just grateful to serve Rolla and the surrounding communities together with their growing families for many years to come.
